After being given a secret document by officials in Moscow, Rep. Dana Rohrabacher sought to alter sanctions legislation and tried to set up a virtual show trial on Capitol Hill.

Members of the team of Russians who secured a June 2016 Trump Tower meeting with Donald Trump Jr. and Jared Kushner also attempted to stage a show trial of anti-Putin campaigner Bill Browder on Capitol Hill.

The trial, which would have come in the form of a congressional hearing, was scheduled for mid-June 2016 by Rep. Dana Rohrabacher (R-CA), a long-standing Russia ally who chairs the House Foreign Affairs Subcommittee on Europe. During the hearing, Rohrabacher had planned to confront Browder with a feature-length pro-Kremlin propaganda movie that viciously attacks him—as well as at least two witnesses linked to the Russian authorities, including lawyer Natalia Veselnitskaya.

Rep. Dana Rohrabacher (R-CA) was taken to a secure room at the Capitol in 2012 and warned by an FBI agent that Russian spies were trying to cultivate him as an “agent of influence” to help shape policies to favor Kremlin interests, reported the New York Times.

The revelation comes after the Washington Post reported on a recording of Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-CA), the House majority leader, telling GOP colleagues on June 15 that he believed Russian President Vladimir Putin had paid Trump and Rohrabacher.

House Speaker Paul Ryan can be heard on the recording urging his fellow Republicans not to leak details of their conversation. Both lawmakers denied the comments until reporters told them about the recording, and McCarthy now claims his remarks were intended as a joke.

Rohrabacher has long been known as one of Russia’s most vocal defenders in Washington, and he’s now one of Trump’s biggest allies on Capitol Hill.

I know I am naïve, but damn...not only does this act make me sick to my stomach, but the fact the Repubs can laugh about it and keep it hushed up really makes me ill. What a rotten group of human flesh. I think the whole damned group needs to be called to testify under oath (not that it would matter to a lying Republican) and kick them out of Congress ASAP. If enough Democrats demand an investigation, surely the public would back them with pitchforks, tar and feathers to get things done. The public is pissed. Use it!!!

It's those types of people who probably have the information the common citizen would believe. Politicians can't be trusted to tell the truth about anything.
