Carrier announced it is planning to lay off 300 workers at its Indianapolis furnace factory on Thursday despite a deal it had reached late last year with President Trump.
This week, approximately 300 employees will leave Carrier as part of the previously announced plan to relocate fan coil manufacturing production lines, Carrier said in a statement.
The company said the affected workers would be able to pursue employment in Carriers parent company United Technologies Corporations (UTC) manufacturing operations.

(19,558 posts)This is just the first round of layoffs, there's more to come later in the year.
They got $7 million in incentives in this deal labeled as a plan to save manufacturing jobs, but the manufacturing jobs are still being sent to Mexico and the engineering and technical jobs are staying here as previously planned.

(82,849 posts)They won't remember the lie, Fox will tell them it's all the Democrats' fault (somehow), and they'll troop off to the polls and vote Republican again because the Republican candidate will promise them that their jobs will come back if they vote in Republicans. It won't be any truer, but it will again make them feel good, they can blame the Democrats, and do it all over again.

(34,661 posts)down sizing, the remainder is about 400 people. Which is their Engineering and Proto Typing Department.. This is just the start. With the Corporate Tax structure still in place that favors American or Multi-National Companies to export their labor intensive jobs off shore, this drain is only accelerating plus the use of Robotics will replace about 15% of these remaining jobs in the next five years.
