Big German Bank, Key to Trumps Finances, Faces New Scrutiny
... snip
Banking regulators are reviewing hundreds of millions of dollars in loans made to Mr. Trumps businesses through Deutsche Banks private wealth management unit, which caters to an ultrarich clientele, according to three people briefed on the review who were not authorized to speak publicly. The regulators want to know if the loans might expose the bank to heightened risks.
Separately, Deutsche Bank has been in contact with federal investigators about the Trump accounts, according to two people briefed on the matter. And the bank is expecting to eventually have to provide information to Robert S. Mueller III, the special counsel overseeing the federal investigation into the Trump campaigns ties to Russia.
It was not clear what information the bank might ultimately provide. Generally, the bank is seen as central to understanding Mr. Trumps finances since it is the only major financial institution that continues to conduct sizable business with him. Deutsche Bank has also lent money to Jared Kushner, the presidents son-in-law and senior adviser, and to his family real estate business.

(6,916 posts)How can the NYT say "expressed deep grievance about an investigation" without saying in the same paragraph "an investigation in which his son met with Russian spies and money launderers"?
It almost seems like Trump gave this interview willingly to Haberman (he did, of course - he chose the NYT for this interview) because he knew the NYT would be a useful tool for his story. And they are. No challenge to him whatsoever.

(6,819 posts)Money laundering through commercial real estate and casinos, loans from Russian banks and other banks trying to hide assets, parking money for Russian and Saudi oligarchs. It's all there. Mueller's group has its work cut out for it. But they are up for it. Follow the money!
