but, it will take electing competent Democrats and time to be back to where we were. The appointment of RW judges could last half a century, because of their decisions, lifetime appointments ( Gorsuch is only 49), and the precedents set by their decisions, which will last, until they are overturned by different courts...a rare thing.

Right on the tail of the trump Jr. meeting revelations came the humiliation of his and the repugs defeat on the healthcare bill and now he threatens to fire Sessions, Rosenstein and Mueller.

He bumbles from one high-profile debacle to the next with high-handed arrogance like the emperor with no clothes.

And it's been like that since he took over.

He's got to go for the good of the country.

I know his family is worried about their bottom lines falling like rocks.

Come on Ivanka, do something or your brand won't be worth crap soon.

I'm not as optimistic as others here.

Here's my scenario:

He's forcing Sessions and Deputy AG Rod Rosenstein out. We knew he would do this because when Sessions recused himself, he removed himself from the process of PROTECTING Trump. And Rosenstein has hinted that he has a moral backbone.

Trump will then fired Mueller and the Acting Director of the FBI!!!

Republicans will not stand up to Trump whatsoever.

Martial Law will be declared if we organize protests. Nazi Germany 1932?!

IF Trump has his way!

i'm seeing that it's unhealthy to underestimate the resourcefulness of evil people or to overestimate the discernment of American voters. that said, it seems to me like there is another way this ends.

Trump and the GOP congress force Mueller to end his investigation without publishing any reports.
thanks to perennial lackluster turnout and vote suppression, Democrats lose house and senate seats in 2018.
Trump launches a shooting war on the Korean peninsula, making himself a "wartime president".
Trump rides the "wartime president" bump and various Democratic missteps to a second term in 2020 and the destruction of America continues apace for another 4 years.

feel free to tell me why this won't happen.

in a few billion years, our big sun will get even bigger as it devours a third of the solar system, and the solar system is pretty damn big by my standards.

the Roman Empire was the biggest player in history for many centuries, and it's long gone now.

sometimes big systems contain the seeds of their own demise.

Profiteering. Lying. Attempt at voter suppression. Threatening people, incl Senators and the AG and Special Counsel. Attempt at obstruction.

They need to culminate this by calling him in to testify under oath. Perjury.

Other than anger, and a need to exact some sort of revenge. Even if #45 is thrown in prison (gotta dream) he'll still be a darling, semi-martyred "hero" of the right, and he'll never shut up as long as he has access to social media and walk-on privileges with Fox "News." His whining will be non-stop, even though no one with a microphone should go near this shithead.

But it'd be nice to have him out of the Oval Office. And quickly.

Huge illegal acts, with loads of people involved, including collaborating with a hostile country. Very few people convicted, pretty much everyone was was then got pardoned, and most of them continue their careers in politics and sleaziness. Hell, half the people in Watergate were welcomed back into the right wing fold.

This time, they were working with professionals (Putin), who were better at covering their tracks. If Putin wants to leave American politics in a state of disarray, it could be to his advantage if Republicans look fairly guilty, but without enough evidence to put a lot of them away. It gives the ultra-right base something to cling to.

The whole family has to go down in total disgrace and infamy or there will never be any end of them. The sons are just as stupid and amoral as the father, everyone in that family's orbit is a low-life. What worries me is that they'll never go away. Long after the Con in Chief is out of the White House, he and his damn spawn will be tweeting, jeering, insulting, wrecking, and the media will still chase after them. The Trumps are a cancer on the nation, hell, on the entire world. And they reproduce. A lot. That defective Trump DNA keeps spreading into new generations. It's downright depressing.

Gerrymandering reigns supreme in 2018 aided by voter suppression & the Republicans maintain control. Somebody please talk me down. I've never been this cynical in my life & I hate it.
