female blackout day

I've been getting messages about a female blackout day. Is this real? Has anyone heard about this? Hell of an idea, if so. Off to google, but I'm curious about others

but I've been getting messages to shut down your facebook page for 24 hours to protest the many many many discriminatory practices faced by women. Just to disappear for a day, and see what happens

...most women don't make enough money or have a senior enough position to take a sudden unexplained day off.
