We're being subjected to OJ with all

that's going on in this country and with this admin? Really??? What boneheaded person thought this was a good idea?

I don't give a flying flip about OJ, and am appalled the ball has been dropped by the talking heads.

All the major networks?

Wow. Once again I'm very glad I don't own a TV. If I ever do get one, I'd be sure it comes with an off switch.

The country became obsessed with OJ because our fascination with scandals and sleaze, to the exclusion of news about policy, government, and broader issues -- i.e., the boring stuff. It's not a coincidence that reality tv boomed a few years later.

I really think you can draw a straight line from all of that to the Trump presidency.

Human nature is such that it loves to look at car wrecks and that extends to human wrecks like OJ and Trump

It was wall-to-wall coverage of O.J. from the moment of the Bronco chase to the aftermath of both the criminal and civil trials.

And with Trump, they covered every public utterance on the campaign trail, the more offensive the better.

We need to learn to look away, or things will never change.

Turning on broadcast media for three minutes today illustrates why I hate ratings-based news content.

No broadcast station will ever go broke from appealing to the lowest common denominator.

Reject the premise this is by definition, newsworthy.

Though if one does in fact, maintain the pretense this is newsworthy and requires competition, McCain's diagnosis, healthcare debate, Sessions remaining as AG, ongoing investigations into Russia-Trump partnership, expansion og Trump investigation, CBO projection of uninsured...

Rationalize otherwise at the expense of critical thought...
