Putins Hackers Now Under AttackFrom Microsoft

A new offensive by Microsoft has been making inroads against the Russian government hackers behind last year’s election meddling, identifying over 120 new targets of the Kremlin’s cyber spying, and control-alt-deleting segments of Putin’s hacking apparatus.

<snip>

Fancy Bear has been conducting cyber espionage since at least 2007, breaching NATO, Obama’s White House, a French television station, the World Anti-Doping Agency and countless NGOs, and militaries and civilian agencies in Europe, Central Asia and the Caucasus. Fancy Bear’s most notorious intrusions targeted the Democratic National Committee and the Hillary Clinton campaign last year, as part of Moscow’s efforts to help Donald Trump win the White House, according to U.S. intelligence findings.

Seems as if the trail is being unraveled quite easily.

have been. Since Microsoft is a major target of attempted hacks, one would think that they would do more than just block them as they come in. Where are governments? Where is ICANN? There needs to be major work done on fighting back, but I've heard nothing.

Take a look at this map of hack attempts in real time. It's mesmerizing and horrifying.

While I was watching Spain was targeted more than Russia or the UK.
I wonder why that would be.

The main target in the US are Microsoft, San Francisco, LA area, DC, and St. Louis (major government computers there). Los Alamos, NM, is popular, too.

What surprised me was that the Netherlands is a top origin for hacks.

It looks like Microsoft is having a major duel with New Hampshire. Maybe it's Toronto - the map is imprecise.

It is interesting to see that MS is one of the leading sources of attacks.

China seems to be having a serious problem with the UAE.

It looks like a major war going on.
