(3,569 posts)I am all for drawing it out for a while. More denials, more midterm election and 2012 fodder against the Repukes. Just like Aaaahnold did in CA. No R will get elected to Statewide office here for a very long time. And AS(s) didn't do anything illegal or traitorous, as The Orange Shitgibbon did, or is doing.

oops, there I go again
In fact reading that persons response to me is making madder than I have been in years.
You see I cant EXPLAIN what I am so angry about, it is against the rules here, we are not allowed to TALK about it.
Which is INSANE
What good does it do? Great question, thanks for asking, so we DONT REPEAT the mistake.

(28,270 posts)Trump and his lawless party of traitors are going to have their way with America.
The Russian coup is complete and airtight. Putin defeated the USA without a shot being fired. His hand picked puppet is on his obscene throne in the White House.
It's laughable and so naive to think the Republican party is EVER going to impeach their own crime boss! The republican party that existed in Nixon's time is 1000% dead and gone.
The present GOP party members are soulless automatons, sold to the highest bidders. Fuck country they don't give a shit about that just $$$!
They are a pack of TRAITORS!!! They sit on high in judgment of the American people discussing how many millions will have to die to appease their 1% masters.
We are a client state of Putin's Russia! WTF is CNN, MSNBS, ABC, CBS going to start reporting this?????
My guess is NEVER because they are owned by the 1%er's as well.

(19,906 posts)If you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you,
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
But make allowance for their doubting too;
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or being lied about, dont deal in lies,
Or being hated, dont give way to hating,
And yet dont look too good, nor talk too wise:
If you can dreamand not make dreams your master;
If you can thinkand not make thoughts your aim;
If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
And treat those two impostors just the same;
If you can bear to hear the truth youve spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,
And stoop and build em up with worn-out tools:
If you can make one heap of all your winnings
And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings
And never breathe a word about your loss;
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except the Will which says to them: Hold on!
If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
Or walk with Kingsnor lose the common touch,
If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you,
If all men count with you, but none too much;
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds worth of distance run,
Yours is the Earth and everything thats in it,
Andwhich is moreyoull be a Man, my son!

(19,906 posts)"man up" is perfectly fine, to a female perhaps not for some, especially if they are uber sensitive about words. Common isn't an excuse, it's a fact. Seriously, people would want to adult up a bit.

(48,788 posts)Racism is racism even when it is two whites talking together.
This kind of excuse making ("just two men" or "just two whites" ) is how racial and sexist stereotypes are propagated and perpetuated.
It is not enough to merely adjust one's speech depending on whether a woman is present or not. The thinking behind the sexism remains.
Progressive people avoid sexist language because the eschew the attitudes of sexism, not because there might be somebody "sensitive" or "uber sensitive" about words.
Since "common" is not an excuse, then don't use it as an excuse like you did.

(5,106 posts)But of course it will never catch on. Relax Skittles. It's just an age old expression. Technically a woman could "man up" as well. An old grammatical rule always required the male form being used when both sexes were included. Women's Lib hit, and suddenly articles and pronouns started getting twisted around to ridiculous and nonsensical variations which sounded ridiculous. There are plenty of legitimate feminine grievances. Using the male form of adjectives/articles, etc. is over the top as a complaint. What about "Man" as a species? "Mankind"? It's a biological, rather than sexual term.

(19,906 posts)long as I can remember. I have a fantastic 11 year old son who is intelligent and kind, but cries rather easily. It's just that he's gentle, (and we don't want that to change), but there are lots of kids out there, that he will interact with, who would buy and sell him. In a couple of situations I have found myself asking him to "man up a little", not harshly or anything, but I explained what I mean. It's a handy shortcut, in getting across that it's not the end of the world if he has to eat a small bit of veg (!), or it's his responsibility to make sure he packs his Nintendo DS charger and then forgets.
