Kentucky GOP chair arrested & punched after he exposed himself in a store bathroom

By Alex Bollinger · Friday, July 21, 2017

David Narramore, 54, was the Republican Party county chairman of Letcher County, Kentucky, until earlier this week when he resigned following his arrest for exposing himself to a department store employee.

Last Saturday, Narramore was in the bathroom of the Belk department store in Kingsport, Tennessee. A Belk employee who works in loss prevention in the next stall said that Narramore started rubbing his foot against the employee’s foot. The Republican then exposed himself to the employee.

Security escorted him to an office to wait for police to arrive. The police say that he “passively” resisted arrest and then attempted to fight officers, so they tried to tase him. When the taser didn’t work, a police officer hit Narramore in the face and wrestled him to the ground.

He was then taken to the Kingsport city jail. He is charged with indecent exposure and resisting arrest.

You remember Kim -- county clerk in MoreHead(!), who refused to issue marriage licenses to gay couples, a decision that is now costing the Commonwealth almost a quarter million dollars.

Welcome to eastern Kentucky, where the county seat for Letcher County is appropriately named "Whitesburg," and where the residents' IQ rarely exceeds the sum of his/her fingers, toes and teeth.

Before anyone accuses me of attacking another state, I'm an expatriate Kentuckian. One who still cringes when news like this appears.

...plus how awful Trumpists can be online, plus their love affair with guns, I am now wondering if a large percentage of them are simply criminals - sex criminals, abusers and thugs - and they just want politicians who will let white guys off the hook for their crimes.

"A Belk employee who works in loss prevention in the next stall . . . "

Either that, or the poor employee has a very limited job. (Are they worried that a roll of toilet paper might get stolen?)

Dr. David Narramore paid the $500 fine in January as part of an agreement to settle a 17-count complaint that claimed he had overprescribed painkillers. Investigators said the dentist prescribed narcotics 20 times for a patient who was already in a drug-abuse treatment program.

Narramore, the Republican Party chairman in Letcher County, said in a recent interview that the Kentucky Board of Dentistry's decision to drop the more serious charges against him amounted to vindication. Critics have called for his resignation from the local anti-drug board, but Narramore says he has no intention of quitting: "I won fair and square."

Still, Narramore's election as chairman of the Letcher County chapter of UNITE shocked some local officials, who noted that improper prescriptions are a key source of the illegal pill trade in rural Kentucky. {...}

UNITE, which stands for Unlawful Narcotics Investigation, Treatment and Education, is a $16 million federally financed program initiated by U.S. Rep. Hal Rogers, R-Somerset, that is supposed to bring police, drug rehabilitation groups and grass-roots coalitions of citizens together in a concerted street-level war on illegal narcotics.
