The new ship, the USS Gerald Ford, is also utilizing lots of new technology and mechanics meaning that there are many details to be finished before the ship will be battle-ready.

This is from a PBS article:

"The vessel completed sea trials in April but still will go through a battery of tests and workups at sea before becoming operational and ready for deployment, work that is expected to cost nearly $780 million and take more than four years to complete, congressional auditors said in a report this month."

Ignoring Trump for the moment, it's exciting that our Navy has this new ship in its fleet. I'm glad the we have her and not someone else.

Best wishes to the sailors aboard the USS Gerald Ford.
