The President telling the military to call their members of Congress is really a shocking thing, if we were capable of being shocked.

Replying to @BrendanNyhan

I fear he will give an illegal order and expect obedience.

Are the Joint Chiefs preparing for this? Are COs and XOs?

republican traitors against America give their submissive support upon command to Comrade Casino, the republican Draft-Dodger-in-Chief.

Make no mistake.

by giving over to the generals in decision making was an erosion of civilian control.

This is Trump's way of saying don't blame me, blame the generals - they had control.

Civilian control for a reason - so that power hungry officers don't start wars on their own. As checks and balances on potential abuse. So that the possibility of a military coup is slim. The actions of an unchecked officer could actually change/set foreign policy - for the worse.

Some may call it giving the military freedom (idiots would) and some may call it putting the military back into the hands of the experts (idiots would) - but what it is is relinquishing control over the troops and troop movements by the so-called Commander-in-chief without any oversight which does nothing but allow for abuse.

The military is secretive enough as it is - too secretive - and without civilian oversight, that will only get worse.
