No matter what bill McConnell puts up, it seems to be over already? Right? Max is 49 GOP votes?

(17,862 posts)Then he is at 50-49 and it passes. What has happened to Murkowski and Capito? I haven't been keeping up. My two Senators are worthless (Grassley and Ernst).

(90,335 posts)I suppose they could have a 49-49 tie with one defection and two abstaining. That would pass with Pence.

(11,589 posts)The final decision rests with McCains doctors.
The 80-year-old lawmaker underwent an emergency craniotomy last week to remove a blood clot above his left eye. He was later diagnosed with a glioblastoma, an aggressive form of cancer.
Senate aides reported last week that McCain was alert and talking to staff shortly after the operation and eager to return to Washington.
But medical experts at the Mayo Clinic Hospital in Phoenix may not like the idea of him jumping back to work so soon.
Senate Republican Whip John Cornyn (Texas) told reporters Monday that McCain was trying to get approval from his doctors to return Tuesday.

(51,584 posts)I called 16 senators today and will continue until August recess. MoveOn had a nationwide call yesterday and even though the bill is a secret/mystery there needs to be constant work on us to not let them pass anything before the August recess. They made it very clear that McConnell is determined and not to sit back and think we have won like we did with the House vote.
Remember when Jason Chaffetz wheeled his still healing foot in on a scooter to make that much needed vote in the House? Same goes now with the Senate and McCain. The thing that really pisses me off is that these guys had surgery and it was paid for yet they are voting to not allow us the ability to have the same thing! They are much more sick mentally than they are physically. They completely miss the irony and their blatant hypocrisy is astounding.
