Why Do The Repugs Keep Circling The Wagons Around Trump?....

Why do they continue to protect him? What does he hold over them to make them cower from him?

Are they really that much in line with him or are they just scared to cross him?

I just don't get it. Aren't there any sane Repugs out there that still love their country and would place country over Party?

Trump is involved with organized crime via his corporations.

I think it is second nature for him to use personal threats that involve people's families, their assets, their reputations.

The republicans are scared of him.

Could it be that the leadership has accepted "donations" from a PAC that has foreign(Russian) connections?

Just a theory I have!

There are no Republicans who will place country over party. I don't understand why people don't understand -- or won't understand -- that simple truth.

I suppose I must chalk it up to naïveté, a failure to understand the true nature of Washington, D.C. The people here are, for the most part, reptiles.

Look at all of the McCain posts hoping he will do the right thing. When has McCain done the right thing? But he is a Maverick? When has McCain ever been a Maverick?

Republicans hate Liberals more than just about anything, people need to get this through thier head. Putin or the dirty Liberals, they pick Putin. It is truly mindbogling to see intelligent people not being able to comprehend what is happening.

That the media never mentions this, is stunning. And everyone just buys that the Russians only hacked the DNC. Our media is so much a part of the problem. They make me sick, patting themselves on the back for the reporting they've done in the past few months, when a year ago all they could talk about were HRCs emails. They let the Con walk, completely, on showing his taxes. A lot of his shady dealings were out there for anyone who had even a smidgen curiosity about the presidential candidate. All they cared about last year was that the Con's rallies were good for ratings. Fuckers.

GOP leadership is complicit in this entire Russian mess. If Mueller gets the Con, but leaves Pence/McConnell/Ryan in place, there will be less drama, but we're still fucked.

no coherent policy, no coherent governing philosophy, and a gaggle of yes men.

Citizen United gutted the party and left a dead fish. The real power is in the tiny fiefdoms of billionaires that support them. Kicking the legs out from Trump would mean these billionaire's have admitted they're wrong. Unfortunately most of them are as batshit crazy as Trump. Thus, there seems little hope the Republican party will pull out of their swan dive into the muck that is Trump. How long does it take their voters to figure out there is no party anymore...it seems like they will never learn this lesson.

They'll let him push as much crazy nonsense as they can, all of it generally in line with their essential platform. So when Trump crashes and burns (for whatever reason), they can nobly step up to roll back his most egregious bullshit while still having significantly advanced their agenda. They'll be able to claim that they acted decisively to rein Trump in, even though he was part of their own party. And they'll use that slogan for decades, claiming to have proven their dedication to serving the country.

Further, every last one of those "buyer's remorse" voters, who now pretend that they've changed their minds about Trump, will certainly decide that the GOP has redeemed itself, and they'll be back to pulling the Red lever in 2018 and 2020.

As it turns out, I posted that answer verbatim on Feb 2 of this year, and as far as I can tell every word is still true.

They hate liberals and democrats. It's an inclusive group that includes all the protected groups that they really hate, but can't say so out loud - uppity women, gays, blacks & Latinos. But dems & liberals? We're not a protected group so you can say it's open season on libtards. I have three cousins who are Trumpers & their hate for the left is stunning. I told one of my cousins - I'm a liberal. He said - not that kind of liberal. I said - yes, that kind of liberal - the bleeding heart kind. He didn't say anything to that. Oh & all three are still posting hateful stuff about HRC. Guess she got under their skin, huh?

The Republican and Conservative parties, and their membership are responsible for this mess and must be held accountable. Now is the time to start bringing the people who support the false president into the light and call them out on their lack of intelligence, and anti American activities!

Donald Trump is the Perfect Republican. There is a reason he has 85% approval among Republicans. What you see in Donald Trump is the Republican party. And the Republican party will continue to get more vulgar, more in your face and more confrontational. I am afraid most of us on here do not understand what this country is headed for, the GOP will NEVER turn on Donald. NEVER. No matter what. They want more Donald Trump, not less.

Until we can come to grips with this fact, we haven't got a chance.

Its not Russian interference, its not us running a bad candidate, its nothing but this: Thr Republican party has, since 1980, courted and won every idiot, racist, misogynist, homophobe, Islamophobe, miscreant, fuck up, and loser to go along with the rich white folk who have always been there for them.

What we didnt know was just how many of those type people were in this country.

Mark my words....Republicans will continue to get more Republican, not less Republican, as they have for 40 years. The war for this nation has only just begun.

It will become much, much worse.

That may seem like a long time, but Congress is still settling down from the election and Repubs haven't figured out their own mess, much less deal with the White House mess. I don't think they understand how to deal with Trump-- he is like no other President since Jackson.

And, Democrats used to have too many factions but managed to work with them, usually with prodding from the White House, but the few sane R's have no idea how to handle their teabaggers. And this White House has absolutely no idea how to work with Congress.

Remember, Nixon was into his second term before they turned on him. Nixon actually had some solid achievements, but they still turned on him.
