Senators on hot mic: Trump is crazy, I'm worried

At the end of a Senate subcommittee hearing on Tuesday morning, Chairman Susan Collins (R-Maine) didn’t switch off her microphone. Apparently speaking to Sen. Jack Reed (R.I.), the ranking Democrat of the committee, Collins discussed the federal budget — and President Trump’s lack of familiarity with the details of governing.

After Reed praises Collins’s handling of the hearing, held by the Transportation, Housing and Urban Development, and Related Agencies subcommittee of the Senate Appropriations Committee, she laments the administration’s handling of spending.

“I swear, [the Office of Management and Budget] just went through and whenever there was ‘grant,’ they just X it out,” Collins says. “With no measurement, no thinking about it, no metrics, no nothing. It’s just incredibly irresponsible.”

“Yes,” Reed replies. “I think — I think he’s crazy,” apparently referring to the president. “I mean, I don’t say that lightly and as a kind of a goofy guy.”

“I’m worried,” Collins replies.

Worried, I say!!!

And with that, she'll proceed to do absolutely nothing to hold him accountable in any way.

She feels sure that any damage inflicted by the raving lunatic won't touch her.

She's not one of "the poors", after all. Those people will just have to fend for themselves.

At least with the latter, you know what they're going to do, and they don't pretend to be anything else.

action. That being said, I'd love to see the results of a 30 day psyche hold on Trump as I think he's as crazy as a shithouse rat.

If he's crazy, then it's their fucking responsibility to oust him or, at the very least, rein him in.

Instead, we get a flock of eager rubber-stampers who offer mild token objections and then fluff their beloved leader 9 times out of 10.

I made that same point earlier today, in fact.

So maybe the media can stop casting these brave rubber-stampers as strong-willed loose-cannon outlaws defying GOP orthodoxy, and instead portray them as the culpable enablers that they are.

All the papers are reporting she will vote no. She has stated over and over again that she would vote no on this, so she has no reason to vote yes. It would not be a popular position to take with Mainers and she'd look like she was going back on her word.

I got to stand up for Collins because she is a decent person who cares about Mainers over her own party when it comes down to it. Yeah, she is a Republican, but she is at least a reasonable one and we need more like her to make that party change.

The people deserve to know what is really going on in the minds of our elected officials concerning Trump. This is a D and an R, and they both realize Trump doesn't know what he's doing.
