Trump to reinstate US military ban on transgender people

http://www.cnn.com/2017/07/26/politics/trump-military-transgender/index.html

Washington (CNN)President Donald Trump announced Wednesday that he plans to ban transgender individuals from serving "in any capacity" in the US armed forces.

The decision reversed a policy initially approved by the Defense Department under President Barack Obama, which was still under final review. Defense Secretary James Mattis announced last month that he was delaying enactment of the plan to begin allowing transgender individuals to join the US military.

"After consultation with my Generals and military experts, please be advised that the United States Government will not accept or allow Transgender individuals to serve in any capacity in the U.S. Military," Trump said in a series of tweets Wednesday morning. "Our military must be focused on decisive and overwhelming victory and cannot be burdened with the tremendous medical costs and disruption that transgender in the military would entail."

"Thank you," he added.

There are trans people serving honorably in the military you asshole. Some services already have developed transgender policy as part of diversity and inclusion to address unique issues of health care and housing for trans soldiers.

Trump's parents didn't hug him enough?

After years spent fighting in some of the world's worst wars, former U.S. Navy SEAL Kristin Beck says she knows what she wants.
"I want to have my life," she told CNN's "AC360."
"I fought for 20 years for life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. I want some happiness."

Beck recently came out as transgender.
She wrote about the experience in a book, "Warrior Princess: A U.S. Navy SEAL's Journey to Coming out Transgender."

As a man named Christopher Beck, she deployed as a SEAL 13 times, including operations in Bosnia, Afghanistan, Iraq and elsewhere. Along the way, Beck earned a Bronze Star and a Purple Heart.

Congressman who served in military: "We don't care about gender, orientation or identity or who you love"
Rep. Ted Lieu slammed Trump’s announcement banning transgender people from serving in the military, calling it an “awful decision."

“I served on active duty in the military, and I can tell you: We don’t care about gender, orientation or identity or who you love," he said. "We just care if you can shoot straight and complete the mission.”
He added that Trump is "excluding qualified and competent people from our all-volunteer military."
