He's acting on his instincts. Trouble in my life? Go after the "other".

LGBTQ
Hispanic
Muslim
African American

And on and on.

Trouble is, you start running out of "other" eventually. And so your definition of "other" begins to change to generate more "other".

Eventually, "other" will include all those who aren't in lockstep with him. And even some of those are already looking sort of "other" to him, as recent developments illustrate.

The idea that he cares about LGTBQ issues is laughable. If he thought that it would help him with his base if he expanded trans right, he'd do it in a heartbeat.
