If this had been an actual emergency, and Allan Ishac, or any other American journalist whose rights to free expression are guaranteed by the First Amendment of the U.S. Constitution, was actually detained or imprisoned without warning or underpants, you would have been instructed where to tune in your area for news and official information.
You would have also been asked (by Mr. Ishac’s family and friends) to call the Reporters Committee Legal Defense Hotline at 1–800–336–4243, which is available to all journalists and media lawyers at any time. Alternatively, you could contact the American Civil Liberties Union at 212–549–2500.
Domestic free press advocates would have also suggested that you read the articles below about the rapid deterioration, and eventual elimination, of press freedoms in other “democratic” countries ................
