(46,036 posts)is proof that Trump has an obligation(s) to Russia. He has to prove to his benefactors that he did everything possible, but he failed.
If I understand correctly, there are new sanctions against Iran with the Russian sanctions. Trump would be vetoing sanctions against Iran after bloviating for them.

(67,088 posts)the investigations, so he's looking, somehow, for Russia to bail him out yet again. I really view this guy as a Russian agent operating in the WH.

(505 posts)They appear to accept anything from Putin just as long as we can buy his cheap gas. Sickening. Also, parts of the German population are just stupid when it comes to foreign policy and defence. Like .. they want to exit NATO, kick out US troops and get rid of our army (because "soldiers are murderers" ), then "just get along with Russia". WTF? And it appears like those are not just 10% but maybe a sizable minority...
It surprised me just a little bit that the SPD party is against sanctions their former chancellor Schröder is a Putin fanboy and works for Gazprom since he lost his job in Berlin. The CDU/CSU parties usually side with the US on foreign policy though. This time, they don't. Why do they want 60% of natural gas used in German supplied by Putin instead of the current 40%? After all the bad things Putin did in the last couple of years... Are some of them in Putins pocket, too?

Trump got his marching orders from his 'dear leader' Putin and evidence of Russia's cyberwar on our country be damned. Putin must have some REALLY juicy stuff on him.

(18,973 posts)All of this is about the deal between one of Putin's shell companies and Exon. They are looking for a waiver of the sanctions to get this massive deal done that would put $billions into the pockets of Russian mobsters. It's the whole reason why Russia attacked our Democracy, because Hillary and Obama killed the waiver. Trump put Exon's former head, Tillerson, in charge of the state department as a signal to Putin that he was serious about getting this deal done. The strengthening of sanctions makes the waiver less and less likely.
It's the last line in the sand for Trump, if this deal is dead for good he is of little use to Putin who will then burn him because creating chaos in the US is Putin's fall back plan.
I keep repeating this, because it's simply not discussed enough. This deal is the whole reason for the nightmare that is happening. In a country with a more responsible press every person in the country would know about this deal and what it means to Trump and Putin.

(12,369 posts)I have a big pocket in my trousers full of secrets, and it has developed a hole. I don't wish for all these secrets to escape, but unfortunately, with the American sanctions, I can't afford to buy a needle and thread. Do we understand each other?
