Boy Scouts Apologize Over President Trumps Remarks at Jamboree

Boy Scouts Apologize Over President Trump’s Remarks at Jamboree
By LIAM STACKJULY 27, 2017

Facing an angry backlash from parents and former members, the chief executive of the Boy Scouts of America apologized on Thursday for political remarks made by President Trump at the organization’s national jamboree this week, during which the commander-in-chief crowed over his election victory, attacked the news media and criticized Hillary Clinton and former President Obama.

Michael Surbaugh, the organization’s chief, said in a statement on Thursday that it was “never our intent” for the national jamboree to become a venue for partisan political attacks.

“I want to extend my sincere apologies to those in our Scouting family who were offended by the political rhetoric that was inserted into the jamboree,” he wrote. He added, “We sincerely regret that politics were inserted into the Scouting program.”

He knew Trump was going to make apolitical speech and he did nothing to keep it from happening! He did nothing because as the CEO of AT&T, he needs to be on Trump's good side in order to get the nod from the DOJ, for the purchase of Time Warner!

All he did with this "apology" was pay lip service and it wouldn't surprise if he got permission to release this "apology", from Scaramucci!!!

that would be an apology? If he's tied up with or dependent on trump, then do you expect something else? I'm surprised a second statement was made at all, but I thought it was much better than the first.

He could apologise to people in general for the behaviour of the scouts. Chanting "USA! USA!" at the thought of people losing healthcare? They were a bunch of barbarians. He could apologise for having failed to teach them the way to behave. He could resign if he is so dependent on Trump that he can't criticise him.

And now that the dime a dozen appology has been made, and after they condemn the speech point by point, what are they really going to do about it? Who's going to resign? Who's going to make sure it doesn't happen again? Who's going to set up a program to councel the scouts on why this was inappropriate?

Where a lot of damage has been done to the organization and the lives of these kids, much has to be required to restore honor.

I won't hold my breath.

After that happens the national leaders who were there and should have stopped him need to resign. And it wasn't just political rhetoric. It was also a hate speech. It degraded those scouts who aren't christian with the merry christmas junk. That was far beyond rhetoric or inappropriate. He did not and still doesn't care what he did to the BSA. They need to see that.

I hated to see the "paramilitary" troops at summer camp. If you were camped near them you would hear a lot of hollering at the scouts. A tip off was the scout master driving up in his hummer and getting out looking more like a soldier then a scout.

I never had much respect for National. I always loved the local. I followed my son from cub scout to Eagle Scout as a leader. We were in a inner city scout troop. Some of the best times of my life.

Apologizing if you were offended?

Great lesson for your Scouts. You should be ashamed of yourselves.

Anyone who tries it can be assumed to have deformed children.

This should have come five minutes after Trump's speech, not after a week of waiting to find out that it bombed.

The scouts present were cheering Trump like a Hitler Youth rally:

This is just what Trump wanted. It will NOT be what parents of present and future scouts want. Some parents will either pull their kids out, or not let them join. That will leave the hard core Hitlerjugend clones to populate the scouts.

1. He can make a half assed 'apology" that will largely smooth the ruffled feathers of a few thousand pissed off parents

or

2. He can bring down an F5 Trumpanzee shitstorm on himself AND the BSA by totally and openly repudiating Trump's speech.
