The other day I put up this thread in the video and media group,

containing a YouTube link to a couple PBS series produced and broadcast back in the 1980's. One of the episodes in the second series "The Constitution, That Delicate Balance" was titled "Executive Privilege and Delegation of Power" and is the video below embedded.
I know the demographics of DU skew older, so I'm confident most of you who take an interest will recognize many if not most of the individuals participating in this discussion, including;
Former President Gerald Ford
Philip Buchen, counsel to Ford
Lloyd Cutler, counsel to President Carter
Lt. General Brent Scowcroft
Representative Barbara Mikulski
Edwin Muskie, Senator from Maine and Secretary of State under Carter

Here's the real reason for this exercise; Put aside your politics for a while and listen to true professionals discuss an important issue that is completely relevant today and try, as hard as you can, to imagine the current members of the cabinet, the president and other particular members of congress participating in such a discussion today.
Imagine Louie Gohmert or Ted Cruz or Betsy DeVoss taking part. Imagine fucking Trump having ANY DAMNED CLUE AT ALL regarding the nuances talked about, then ask yourself...
What the ever living fuck has happened to our country that we have allowed such rank amateurs to rise to such high levels? Suffice to say, we lost a shitload of grownups in January.
The entire video is 58 minutes long, but well worth the watch, as is the entire series, even if you saw it all 30 years ago.
