It was a rejection of one person..and how that person operates: Mitch McConnell

McCain's statement:

In a statement put out after the vote, McCain called for a “return to the correct way of legislating and send the bill back to committee, hold hearings, receive input from both sides of aisle, heed the recommendations of nation’s governors, and produce a bill that finally delivers affordable health care for the American people.”

This statement is very similar to what Murkowski said about this procedure. This bill needed to be brought out in the usual manner. She referred to: send it to committees, hold hearings and input from all. She did not like the dictatorial nature of...McConnell...

I recall when ACA was passed, Mr Obama did indeed allow input from all. Everyone got a say..All sides of the aisle, committee hearings, outside interests like hospitals, doctors, interested groups, normal citizens, It went on and on because of that involvement. Compromises were made but it passed.

McCain and Murkowski stood up to the dictator McConnell who used his secret group to create this bill. That is what McConnell did. He lost.

Kudos to every single senator who voted against this bill..All who voted against it may have saved the democratic process in congress. Thank you..and F**k McConnell

2. By making that statement..about the way the bill was constructed,

by a small group of McConnell's supporters, McCain did that. Here is a thought, McCain, Murkowski and Collins all participated in the way ACA was constructed.. As stated, there was indeed input from all sides. There were open hearings, discussion, amendments, etc. etc. etc. It was constructed the way it was supposed to be constructed. And the three of them were there and may have had input. (I don't know)

But with McConnell, it was 5 or 6 (I don't know) men who put it together. That's all. McConnell and his group.
No one else...And he lost, and we won.

3. How about starting with two lists:

1) all the elements of our current health system that constituents have said they'd like to see changed and

2) all the elements they like and want retained.

Ask all members to contribute to the lists and let a committee work through the evidence.

4. Whatever lists are constructed there must be input by everyone.

Some changes could be made to ACA to make it better. The essence of ACA is a compromise, and it will always be. But the most important concept is that ACA allowed millions to get insurance and consequently saved thousands of lives. Allowing input from all concerned is a solution to whatever problems exist with ACA..More the better..

The "skinny bill" had input from 6 or 7 individuals (and that included McConnell) ..what an awful way to do a bill. What can one say???
