while we're busy arguing about which republican is more heroic, let's not forget the 48 democrats

in the senate who held firm.

it's been said that keeping democrats in line is like herding cats, and republicans certainly have a long history of successfully turning just enough democrats to make a difference in a key vote.

so let's thank all our democratic senators for staying strong and not cutting any side deals!

I do applaud the Republicans who voted for it, especially the two women senators who were under greater pressure than McCain was, but it is the Democrats who deserve the most credit for standing firm and calling upon the public to oppose this bill. It annoys me that even the Democratic senators are giving McCain so much credit. He grandstanded up until the last moment.

Kind of important right now. The positive reinforcement could be our last hope at maintaining what's left of our institutions. Not that I don't think it is stupid that we have to do it, it just seems so evident that we do. :/
