That each and every Democrat in both the House and the Senate stood together against this shitstorm. We flick Democrats a lot of shit for wavering or pandering (much of it justified), but on this one, every one of them deserves to have us stand behind them.

The Democrats in congress know we have their backs. So do two Republicans

They had the whip count, the ones that didn't want it to pass knew how many votes they needed and McCain, Murkowski and Collins took one for the team. You can look at the whole process, allowing McConnell to suspend regular order to even try to jam this shit though was cowardly, but the vote itself, protecting other members from having to stick their necks out when they are vulnerable, is nothing new or particularly remarkable. However it failed, the important thing is that it failed.

But saving a colleague from making a "hard vote" when it isn't needed is pretty routine, and that's what McCain did.
