Woman makes fake rape claim against blacks, what the hell was she thinking??!!??

Did she have any clue at all how much damage she'll do to *REAL* rape cases?

Just baffled here by why she did this.

White woman who lied about being raped by three black men indicted on felony charges

A Texas woman who lied about being raped by three masked black men was indicted on three felony charges including two third-degree felony counts of tampering with physical evidence and a third-degree felony count of tampering with a government record, the Root reports.

On March 21, Breana Harmon Talbott—who was 18 at the time—ran into a Texas church in just her bra, a T-shirt and underwear, and claimed she had been raped by two masked men while a third held her down. She was taken to local hospital where it was determined she showed no signs of forced penetration. Harmon eventually admitted her injuries were self-inflicted.

is absolutely not thinking at all about any damage to real rape cases.

Who knows exactly what she's thinking? But is definitely about any long term consequences.

Usually women who file false claims like this have an underlying mental health problem. The severity of the charges leads me to believe that is not the case here. I suspect some racial aspect with this.

As with most false claims, she did not name or point to any specific males, so at least she did not ruin any lives, except her own.

I was thinking of that football player who was falsely accused, and the woman who sued the university.

All based on a lie.

Although "Mexicans" would have worked almost as well.

The few limited studies about women who lie about being raped leave much to be desired, and when I researched them ten years ago, they were old then.

IIRC, the most frequent reason given was revenge, followed by a desire to get out of trouble (e.g., husband/farther catches finds out), followed by attention. One infamous case involved a woman who admitted lying about being raped to explain her no-call/no-show at work; the boss called the police on his own, her story unraveled, she went to jail. The one overwhelming common factor was age: most false reports (as opposed to unsubstantiated or similar) was the women were young.

99% of people are telling the truth about being sexually assaulted, and 100% of people deserve to be treated as if they were telling the truth. People like the story in the OP, however, just give fuel to MRA assholes claiming that "bitches are liars" or some equally evil bullshit. That's why I think a fake charge against a real person that causes that person any harm should result in a punishment equaling the fake charge. Catch a cop on camera planting evidence? Should be sentenced like a crack dealer. Fake rape charges? Whatever those three men in the OP would have gotten.

(Not my field, but a modern updating of those old studies, mixed qual/quan, maybe including male victims, would be an interesting and important avenues to research)

I am sure the black population will be very kind. Few her age will be equally aware of just what "consequences" can mean as thoroughly as she will.

I just can't really figure why she'd do this, unless she actually is mentally ill, craves attention, or like that one woman, wanted to get money by suing a college.

A college student reported that she had been raped by a black man in broad daylight at a local reservoir that is surrounded by walking trails. She said she was walking alone and was forced off the trails and raped. It was quite chilling considering that my family frequently hikes in the area and is a popular spot for college students and leisure hikers to congregate. A few days later, she admitted that the whole thing was made up.

One can only ask: WHY?

Because it gave them a rush and a sense of power to get all that attention because they were seen as a helpless victim that needed to be protected?

The women who lie like that don't care about what their lies do, they only care their sorry, thoughtless asses are covered or they get the attention they crave. I've noticed that this sort of thing tends to happen more often when the local society is more interested in punishing "those people" than it is in the rule of law and the wellbeing of the local citizenry.

In those types of locations, a false accusation might safely be shrugged off as a "horrible mistake, because we know those little womens are so emotional..." - even if someone went to jail or was lynched over the accusation.

And when the Drumpf and the media go on and on about innocent girls being raped and cut up, certain women feel they can be part of the hero-worship, as well as maybe helping to get rid of some of those "undesirables".

Harper Lee wrote a famous novel about it. And in this case, expect the charges to be reduced quite a bit.
