(6,916 posts)There are two experienced, thoughtful, ethical adults supervising our military and intelligence agencies: McMaster and Mattis.
Mattis is probably more important as the Secretary of defense, and also because he hasn't publicly sacrificed his dignity lying for the president.
The president can fire his chief of staff, HHS sec, Sec of State, and as many public relations people as he wants and I won't care.
However, if McMaster goes, one of America's safeguards against disaster is gone.

(6,042 posts)I am not seeing sufficient controls in place to prevent a disaster.
They may be there but hidden from most of us-but I don't know.
An American administration needs to be well run to prevent needless disaster. This is not a well run administration-it invites chaos.
Either some outside entity will decide to take major advantage of the chaos to do damage to our country or the administration itself will do damage.
It seems we are moving each day into a position of greater risk.
I would like to see a frank public discussion on containment of risk.

(4,533 posts)Can Pompeo serve both as national security adviser and attorney general? Does he have to resign as CIA head or can he have all 3 jobs at once? Would he get 3 paychecks?
Trump may need to bring Sarah Palin in as a rotating pinch hitter.
