When it's finally time, it happens pretty fast and then they're gone.

Last summer, though, I was lounging on our second-story porch and got to see it. After sticking their little faces out for a while, one pushed out farther, and then three suddenly popped right out, one right after the other, pop, pop, pop, and flew into the maple tree by the porch. The next hesitated, but then took that huge first flight. The last two, though, were very unhappy, obviously not ready but not able to stay either. It took a while, but of course eventually the draw of family won.
