The OP asked why the media is gushing over General Kelly being named White House Chief of Staff.

He's the new thing for the Media to pontificate about.

And, the media has always been at the forefront of it. Whatever it takes to make sure that there is a good supply of willing cannon fodder to fight for the oligarchs.

But alas, I think he will be another in a string of people who find that tRump is a lot sicker and more devious than any of us imagined. No, this problem requires much more than one man or woman to salvage what is left of our executive branch. Congress? Are you listening and watching? Time to step up.

He'll fit right in...he's a head nodder, as can be seen from his short time at DHS!

Trump said jump and Kelley didn't ask how high, he just jumped!

Can you imagine Kelly being granted full Chief of Staff power with full personnel decisions?

"Jared and Ivanka...you're fired".
Not gonna happen.

He seems darker than one would initially surmise, especially after watching his actions
at DHS. I recently read that he and Bannon have been friends for nearly a decade.
And Bannon was pushing for him to take the CoS position at the Whitehouse.

What devious plans are afoot?

Do you remember where you read it?

That explains a lot when it comes to his immigration positions.

He's happy to be part of the cheeto administration or he'd have resigned by now.

I honestly thought this a-hole was a decent guy.

the media just isn't used to covering WH corruption, ineffectiveness and dysfunction 24/7, they need something to balance it out, some kind of palate cleanser to wash the taste of Trump's taint out of the mouths of viewers, this week mr. military man Kelly is minty fresh.

next week, i expect he'll go back to being another nut in the bowl, but today he is the Taint-Balancer.

False patriotism in the form of using empty words where true emotions and/or feelings lack.
Kelly is granted deference because of his rank - generals are assumed to be highly competent.
While I am grateful for honorable men and women who serve to protect and better our country, I think it's disingenuous to assume every service member fits that profile.
I can only hope that Generals Kelly and Mattis are cognizant of the danger that this president represents to this country, and that they remain loyal to country.
