I sense that half or so are Republicans who just won't say they disapprove of a GOP President.
His base may make up a slim majority of the Republican rank and file, but unlike the media portrayal of his base size,
I doubt very much that it is that large.

(64,867 posts)There were Obama haters and Hillary haters who voted for "it", but they're not the base. They made a rash decision based upon a lot of nothing (well, racism and misogyny come to mind) and they can't admit that they made an error or that they're baser instincts drove a bad decision.

(28,136 posts)Trumpcare was only 13-17% popular.
How can that be with his approval in the 39's.
I can't square up these numbers to make sense.

(29,193 posts)have created probably 20 to 30 percent of the adult population of this country that just simply hate democrats/liberals, the system, government, and the media.
They are Trumps "base". They are, as Hillary said, deplorable people. Hating without reason, generally fact free.
They hate the educated, they hate "science" and scientists, they hate LBGTQ, they hate non-whites and, most of all, they hate "political correctness" that they believe forces them to keep their snarky comments and conspiracy theories and intolerance of "others" to themselves. They believe that the liberals in big cities are keeping them poor and that the liberals want to tax them more to pay for "those others".
And even though they are the largest class of "takers" in the nation, they really believe that "libtards" are the ones that want "free everything" paid for by the "guvment".
Some of these people are my relatives...
I will never forget going to a Thanksgiving dinner with my sister and her family (adult children and spouses). They ALL were either employed by state or local governments OR were on some sort of disability or other government assistance. I was the only person there with a job in private industry... one where my income tax rate was 48% from federal and state taxes. They ALL bitched about "liberals from California" (knowing that I live in California) ruining the country, blah, blah, blah.
All I could do to remain civil and not walk out right then and there.
