It never seems to occur to people that:

1) This wasn't an isolated incident. His actions are practice/automatic/rehearsed. He isn't figuring out this stuff as he goes along.

2) This is a larger part of an approach to the job. There is an underlying attitude involving his exercise of authority.

3) Other officers observed this and did not intervene. Other officers HAVE observed this in the past and did not intervene.

4) His "lieutenant" was aware of the general situation and instructed/empowered him to execute this line of action. So it's not "just one officer".

Bully with a badge. As for the Nurse, the usual thing in Utah is to shame Females into not seeking redress. After all,in Utah,it is only one thing, might is right.

of these assholes. Cops can't demand blood work from a nurse. They need a warrant or a court order for that. She was doing her job and got arrested for it. I'm shocked that the hospital administration and or security didn't get in the way of them taking her.

They've all gotten a pass since 9/11 and that hero shit really bugs me. This guys is certainly no hero, nor any of the others who stood by and did nothing. I guess at least the one cop who kept his camera on the whole time and some sort of honor.

I think it's fair to say that while some (or even most) cops do some good things, they have a culture that doesn't respect the rights of citizens and the ones who simply do nothing share the guilt of the more overtly bad ones.

First I have seen this and as a retired RN, I have been reading about it today.

So none of those officers knew or cared how wrong this was and did not intervene. So much for one bad apple.

This shit has been out of hand towards the citizen for so long....pigs are back in the lexicon in describing these goddamn trumpista storm troopers. I hear PIG everyday now...from a wide variety of people....to hell with the pigs. A good cop, I have the most respect in the world for...yet they seem so rare now.

35. Out and out constitutional violation
Sat Sep 2, 2017, 12:45 PM
Sep 2017

This cop, if he keeps his job, needs to go back to cop school and learn some basic constitutional law. There were extremely limited circumstances that the police could constitutionally cause blood to be drawn, none of which were present here. Both the nurse and her supervisor repeatedly told the cop this, and he still couldn't control his temper nor be aware of some very basic rules that limit what police can do. Unbelievable!

As an aside, I read that Alex Wubbels, the nurse, was an alpine skier who competed in two Winter Olympics. I truly feel badly for how she was humiliated and hurt by this cop. As others have mentioned, I can only imagine how much worse it might have been if the nurse had been a PoC.

This is an OUTRAGE!!
This is "gestapo" at its worst!
The man is taking the "power" of his position to extremes that endangers the safety of the entire community and violates the rights of all law-abiding citizens.

HE MUST BE FIRED AND JAILED FOR ASSAULT!

Yes, I know, the "men in blue" are out there to protect us and at least 98% of them (don't really know a number here - I'm only hoping there's that many!) are doing the proper and noble job. THIS "officer" gives all proper authorities such a bad name and puts a negative cast on all of them.

HE NEEDS TO GO - HE NEEDS TO BE KEPT AWAY FROM HARMING LAW-ABIDING CITIZENS!!!!!!

Administrative leave? Should be PERMANENT LEAVE - for the good of society!
