Welcome to trumpworld......
After rejecting a plea deal, Desiree Fairooz will again face charges of unlawful conduct for disrupting Sessions' hearing in January.
According to court records, Fairooz rejected a deal offered by prosecutors that would have required her to plead guilty in exchange for a recommended sentence of time served.
Fairooz was detained after audibly laughing after Sen. Richard Shelby told senators at Sessions' confirmation hearing that the then-Alabama senator had a record of "treating all Americans equally under the law."

(43,173 posts)If they're going to pointlessly waste several thousand dollars of the DOJ budget, at this point they'd be better off using that money like John Ascroft to cover up statues at DOJ headquarters because they have boobies.

(16,646 posts)On appeal if nothing else. I wouldn't be surprised if the judge threw the case out. It is VERY close to a 1st amendment case. And unless they can demonstrate HOW it "disrupted" the hearings, it is on very shakey ground.

Of course, that presumes that an offense has been committed, of course.

(15,805 posts)Is laughter illegal? It it as mock worthy as a derisive snort or an exaggerated eye roll? Is chuckling any more disruptive that someone having a fit of coughing or a bout with sneezing, or a crying baby, or do we see Sessions arresting someone for a ringing cell phone?
