a dress, shirt, or blouse..."? I seem to recall Sat Night Live doing a spoof of it in their early years too.

(7,619 posts)You really have to look for it in order to find made in usa clothing. Most stores dont carry it.
On the web, there are a few online stores like http://www.theunionshop.org/ where union made goods can be bought.
I think one of our DU members (omahasteve) who is a union guy also posted links to various places where union goods can be had.

This is actually not a bad idea. In legalization states, a union of workers could set up a state-wide credit union. Which would make it so much easier and safer for everyone to do business.
So far, they're generally not abusive workplaces, but all workplaces have the potential, and right now, most growers have to 1099 their employees (or use a co-working cover service) so the employee has to deal with FICA, health care and other tax situations. A union could help the industry force the state to fix some of those rules.

Thanks for the memory.

Those were union shops with benefits,

(57,315 posts)I think the International Ladies Garment Workers Union (ILGWU) has been replaced by the Amalgamated Clothing & Textile Workers Union (ACTWU).
That's what the label in a Hart, Schaffner & Marx jacket I just picked up says.
Sheesh, is it a quality garment. Workmanship, style, material, appearance: everything.
