Obama was not "damaged" by Reverend Wright. Nor by having Farrakhan pinned on him.

Nor by the fact that his opponent cited the Kennedy assassination as a reason for staying in the race.

But we are expected to believe that being called "establishment" in the primaries is such a vicious below-the-belt attack that it brought down a candidate of whom one of the strongest credentials was having withstood right-wing attacks for decades.

And that, in an election in which the other candidate was on tape bragging about grabbing women by the pussy.

Sorry, not buying it.

If the last couple of elections have taught me one thing it is this: Whoever gets their base energized wins. Who fails to do so loses. It is really that simple.

It really isn't that simple. The base is not enough to win elections.

American voters get complacent and allow terrible candidates like Trump and W to win their vote or they get lazy and don't vote.

It was Humphrey not Kennedy who was leading in the primaries in the final stretch. Kennedy is the one who is staying in the race against a candidate who is beating him and not the other way around.
