Dear Maricopa,
The Maricopa County Community College District is built on a foundation of providing access to higher education for diverse students and communities, and we continue to be committed to that mission.
Under the announcement of the President, Attorney General Sessions and the Department of Homeland Security, DACA applications and renewals for the employment authorization document are permissible for a limited time and under limited circumstances. MCCCDs commitment to our students remains and we will continue to pursue our appeal, having submitted our petition for review on August 21, 2017. We will be conferring with outside counsel on the case as well as meeting internally to determine how we move forward in accordance with the law while maintaining our commitment to the residents of Maricopa County.
We have approximately 2,000 DACA students currently enrolled in Maricopa County Community Colleges. Those students will continue to pay in-state tuition until we determine the nature of the DACA repeal. We are committed to helping all people--regardless of their background--achieve their academic goals and fulfill their potential.
Sincerely,
Maria Harper-Marinick, Ph.D.
Chancellor

(10,270 posts)The only real way out, has ALWAYS been UP in this country. Faster Better SMARTER Stronger. That immigrant populations have taken that to mean something, is why self-important, UNeducared white people have so much Hate for them.
In my opinion, there isn't a damn thing wrong with small-town American life..I was born there and would love to be able to retire there (without owning and working a Farm in between). But for some reason, we have come to believe that that particular American existence precludes being educated and enlightened, and THAT pisses me 5 he fuck off in a way most other things dont. We seem to REVEL in our intentional ignorance (and it wasn't always this way) and I find myself wondering why...
Because it's not acceptable.
We MUST be better, if we want to actually BE the only Superpower on the Planet (which I KNOW most Republicans think is our destiny...so WTF are they playing at???).
That's all
Rant: OFF.
