Will Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands get fair treatment?

In light of the $7.9 billion in aid for Houston, and a likely equal or greater amount for Florida, I wonder if Puerto Rico (overwhelmingly Hispanic) or the US Virgin Islands (overwhelmingly Black) will get equal consideration from our neo-Nazi Republican Congress. Watch this space.

is in the position to get aid out to all the islands and provided cooperative ventures for the other governments, to aid their populations.

I was down there after the last large hurricanes to see the devastation. One conversation I had with a native was, "only the US cares about how people live, others care about how they died".

Rebuilding our playground, will require money and cooperation.

You need to do a quick demographic check of the Bahamas so you know what areas to whine about next.

I repeat. Puerto Rico is not a high-profit center and is tremendously in debt. Last positive idea I heard was some billionaire who had the "bright" idea of developing it as a giant resort for people like him, serviced by a servant class of Puerto Ricans.

My DIL lived there for years and would be happy if we all moved there. Being a party girl, she'd return to San Juan, and on its own I'd want to live in one of the lush, higher rainfall areas in the mountains with distant views of the Caribbean. But PR so far has never been able to self sustsain. Until I knew our grandchildren wouldn't starve to death if some disaster befell the outer world or end up calling a ruling class, "Sir and Madam," I'd never consent to it. Oh, forgot to mention the critical fresh water problem. PR will turn around some day, but for now that people the island can't support are leaving is the closest to good news I've heard for a while. Hopefully many will be able to return some day.

11. Well, seeing as 2 of those 4 locations you named are actual tax-paying full fledged states...

I wouldn't be surprised if they get WAY more US federal relief.
