I hope that the evacuation in Florida goes well

Granted, people are evacuating from different cities, but if the 5 to 6 million who have been asked to evacuate do, it could mean people being stuck on the freeways when the hurricane hits.

There was a lot of second guessing the Houston mayor's suggestion to shelter in place unless you were in specific areas where evacuation was recommended. Lord knows we have thousands of flooded homes and people displaced by the storm, but the death toll stands at 70. Hurricane Rita, which ended up not hitting Houston, had a death toll over 100 because of the evacuation itself.

His home was untouched by the storm as it veered east, later the storm veered west and the eye of the storm went over the house that he evacuated to.

They brought extra gas with them in containers or they would have been stranded on the road when the hurricane arrived.

Like I said, I hope it goes well, but I fear it won't. At least Irma is not predicted to stall out and dump FEET of rain like we had with Harvey. At least evacuees from Houston can go west to San Antonio, west northwest to Austin and north to Dallas. Florida evacuees can only go north.

All those people stuck out on the road.

But they cannot stay at home.

I have four people from Florida staying here.

They are really quiet right now.

She said that Florida license plates were everywhere and delayed her way out. No complaints, though, from her or me. People are getting out and staying safe.
