General Discussion
Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsI am getting the impression from some DU'ers that Senator Sanders is weak and very fragile.
That he isn't strong, he's helpless, is totally incapable of handling criticism, and has to be protected constantly.
I am also getting the impression from some DU'ers that the Revolution Bernie talks about is very fragile and too. So ephemeral that a couple three pages of tepid criticism in a 500 page book is enough to destroy it.
Everyone needs to just shut-up shut-up shut-up.
Personally I think Bernie is tough and resilient. One of the many reasons I admire him.
But of course YMMV

(45,052 posts)Criticism rolls off his back like water off a duck. He has no fucks to give about petty shit.

(1,765 posts)It pretty much comes with the territory of being a politician in general. I love both Hillary and Bernie.
We should all align together for the future.

(68,543 posts)Vermont. I don't approve of introducing a single payer bill at this time with no chance of passing it. Other than that I don't care...neither Hillary nor Bernie will ever be president...some new blood is a good thing.

(15,805 posts)but as consciousness raising for a Democratic goal. The more it's talked about, the more pundits, politicians and commentators who are discussing universal healthcare options, the more voters will start noticing it as a new idea that might be a possible solution.
It isn't going to make any headway in a Republican controlled congress, but sooner or later that will change. When it does, maybe voters will have heard enough about single payer plans to help Dems change our healthcare system.

There are certainly fragile politicians but Bernie is not one of them. He has his eyes on good things for this country and will not be stopped by stupid or partisan crap.

(34,105 posts)OP was gone! Did someone not understand what you were saying? I know there are some very tender posters here. It is hard to know sometimes where you fall, when there are only 2 choices and you post something clever.
I intend to be like Bernie, we should all try. When you believe in something with all your heart and mind and know it is what would be the best for the most people you have to learn to let the screaming and nastiness flow over you like a cool shower.
We need to get passed this and quickly.

(29,322 posts)I'm probably weak and very fragile but not Bernie Sanders. Most of the time I ignore those threads.

(11,175 posts)If there's criticism of Bernie, and it's false, and some DUers point out the falsity, does that mean we think Bernie is fragile? That doesn't follow.
Bernie isn't fragile. For that matter, even a genuinely fragile politician wouldn't be destroyed by a few posts on an online message board.
We don't respond because we think Bernie is fragile. We respond because this is a discussion board, and pointing out falsehoods is an appropriate subject for discussion.

(37,748 posts)Good thing he didn't get the flu and pass out... no telling what sub-literate idiocy people would rely on to diagnose him from little more than a clip or photograph, and pronouncing him too old and feeble for this line of work.

(1,301 posts)That tough aspect is more about self-preservation than anything else. I think he has been and is insignificant when it comes to legislative success as a career politician. That's actually a fact, not an opinion.
