It's what has caused them to lose faith - at least, those who actually have. They were fine with all his misogyny, racism, xenophobia, vulgarity, corruption, constant lying, and generally being a complete dick. In fact, those qualities weren't bugs but features. What has suddenly become a bur under their saddles is that by at least seeming to be willing to negotiate with Chuck and Nancy to preserve DACA (we'll see how long that lasts), Trump appears to be less of a xenophobe than he seemed to be during the campaign. The Trumpistas loved him because he expressed dislike for immigrants and a desire to get rid of them - and now he wants to let them stay? Xenophobia is at the core of his base, and the fear that he might be giving immigrants even a small break has got them freaking out. I think a lot of them will stick with him, though.
