I might be proud of my country instead of being ashamed every time the "president" opens his blubbery mouth.

So glad you posted this. Just responded to a guy on Facebook claiming no one was interested in what she had to say anymore and she had nothing of value to offer the Democratic party at this point.

(1,201 posts)I try always to put principles before personalities no matter how much I like the personality. I liked her thoughtful deliberation on policy. But the comments on FOX nation were despicable proving what lying hateful propaganda can do to a person's reputation. Take her exact stands and comments and put Trump's name after them and watch all the good comments until they read Clinton said it. What bigotry. She was 100% accurate with her "basket of deplorables" comment. A depressing observation but accurate.
Our government is now being run by a basket of deplorables, from the majority in the SCOTUS all the way down to local politics.

(4,032 posts)Whether or not you agree with, like, or despise her, Clinton's interview with Rachel Maddow showed a woman of intelligence, who spoke lucidly, with a clear understanding of foreign and domestic affairs. Clinton was able to construct sentences with clarity and thought - unlike the buffoon currently occupying the White House. She presented a well thought out response to each question asked of her without using grade school terminologies like " losers" and " bad guys".
Hillary was not my first choice for President, but she certainly would have run the country with a much greater grasp of diplomacy, professionalism, and intelligence.

(82,849 posts)Yeah, a lot of people tuned in to hear what that loser (nearly negative 3 million votes!) had to say, but what you're overlooking is that "no one who matters" wanted to hear what she had to say. Can't you remember anything? Do your betters have to spell it out in detail every time? When you hear that "no one" cares about something important to you, just fill it in as "no one who matters."
Yeesh!

(9,865 posts)....by the 45 win but it's not making any difference to the wound if we keep putting so much energy into going over and over and over and over the past.
Especially if the problem in the past was idiosyncratic to one candidate and not useful for the systemic change the Dems need to make to win in '18.
New strategies, clearer Democratic messages are needed. Medicare for all is a good start and a red line in the sand of difference between Dems and them. Really glad so many of the Dems who may run for President in '20 have signed on.

"We've moved toward one-person, one-vote, that's how we select winners," she said, adding that the Electoral College should be ended. "I think it needs to be eliminated. I'd like to see us move beyond it, yes."
Clinton also called for ending the Electoral College as a senator-elect in 2000 after Democratic presidential candidate Al Gore's loss.
"I believe strongly that in a democracy, we should respect the will of the people and to me, that means it's time to do away with the Electoral College and move to the popular election of our president," she said at the time.

(53,031 posts)On command, during the few minutes you happened to be listening?
As big tree' response to you shows, she did talk about the EC just two days ago. Are you going to admit you were wrong?
She talked in the Maddow interview about voter disenfranchisement, which other candidates and their supporters have been either silent about or denied. Months and months of recriminations about how the Democratic Party doesn't cater to th $100k plus a year white male Trump voter, and not a single word about voter disenfranchisement, except by some who deny it. This despite the fact that part of that effort is directed at college students. Of course, most of it is directed at the poor, elderly, and people of color. And that is very population Nomiki Konst and her allies are working furiously to keep from voting by replacing primaries with caucuses. Yet not a word of criticism about that. Instead, the travesty is that Hillary Clinton didn't talk about the electoral college during the few minutes you happened to be listening, all while ignoring news coverage reporting her comments on it.

(9,653 posts)I was elated that hc talked about the voting machines in Virginia being retired and replaced with paper ballots...and she said it should happen all over the country ... I just wish it had happened before the election because Wisconsin going for trump was at least in part because of electronic voting machines
of course there is more needed besides paper ballots...they need to be hand counted at the precinct with a tight chain of custody
BUT
for a politician to admit there is a problem with our voting security is HUGE

(81,220 posts)It just stunned me how so many talking heads expressed surprise, or one of many versions of "why didn't she act this way during the campaign?" FOR FUCK'S SAKE!!! Were they blind, deaf, and mute? Were they in solitary confinement for the last decade or more? What total BULLSHIT! That's who she is! She has been that way all along!
I was so proud. Proud of her and amazed by her.

(1,192 posts)Only read the first chapter so far. Got chocked up and teary reliving November and January, but am inspired of how she managed to survive. There are great lessons here of how to make this a better world and get through tough times. She is truly a remarkable woman and an American treasure.
And love her more. Yes, tragic she's not where she should be by our vote, but so good we can see and know the awesome woman she is.

(6,974 posts)There are some things Hillary said that she'd have changed during the campaign, and yes she has flaws as we ALL do (tRumputin is a racist, tReasonous, mentally-ill, lying devil). However, with the gerrymandering, GOP voter-suppression off the chain occurring in certain swing-states tRumputin MIRACULOUSLY won, and ruskie interference NO Democrat was winning the 2016 General Election. I've friends who are Bernie supporters who are turning on fellow Bernie Supporters (The Jimmy Dore Crazies), because they're tired of hearing how flawed/crooked she was and that she was worse than tRumputin, and that they rigged the primaries etc for Hillary. My close circle of Bernie-supporting friends aren't insane like this friend's circle of Bernie-supporter friends/family.
Tell ya, I'm frightened at Dem prospects come 2018. Not just because of gerrymandering, or because of GOP lead voter-suppression, old voting machines that can be hacked or the ruskies--which is more than enough to have to worry about. But you have some Bernie Supporters, who told fellow Bernie supporter friends that if tRumputin wins the 2020 thuglican nomination, they'll vote for him just to stick it to the Dem party. I'm not talking about the fake Bernie russian Bots in St. Petersburg buildings who are still sewing the seeds of discord amongst Democrats. I'm talking about real living and breathing Bernie supporters per my non-crazy Bernie supporter friends. I asked my friend this past Friday what'll happen. He said a civil war within their ranks--and while this friend isn't in "love" with Hillary, he voted for her in the GE, and he tried to get others to as well. He said he had some success in getting them to vote for Hillary in the GE, but others either didn't vote or voted for Stein or Johnson. He told me that during the conversations he's had with fellow Bernie supporter friends and even family members over these past months, they tell him that they FULLY intend to support tRumputin in 2020 because they're angry with sleazy, cheating Dems. He said he told them that they're insane if they think that Hillary is worse than tRumputin, and insane period to be voting for tRumputin. I ask him what they think about the GOP getting ready KILL Obamacare off for the umpteenth time, and he said that they never answer him back. He said there's silence, then deflection and extreme anger aimed back at Hillary and them pointing out how hideous, crooked, rotten Hillary is, and that she's far worse than tRumputin
He says that he's about done with his fellow Bernie supporter friends/family.

(44,119 posts)it pays to listen to our elder statesmen and women.
Thats your opinion, my opinion is different as we are in control of the WH, oh wait... but we have the Senate..hmmmmm no, oh we control the house..ahhhh hmmmm ok yes, thank GOD we have the Supreme court...yeah oh hmmmm....yes, lets stick with the present leaders of the party.....

(44,119 posts)I said our elder statesmen and women have knowledge and wisdom and are worth listening to.
I am all for new leadership.
(While we are at it though, neither Bernie or Hillary are responsible for our losses in Congress. We lost because our Democrats voted for Universal Healthcare. Koch Bros put billions into demonizing Obamacare and running lie ads about the people who voted for it. They poisoned the well and made Obamacare unpopular w voters. Only now are voters coming around and realizing the propaganda war was bullshit.)
