welcome to the world according to trump....
Four fans were ejected from Fenway Park in Boston after they unveiled an anti-racism banner over the Green Monster on Wednesday night.
Racism is as American as baseball, the sign said.
The banner was unfurled in the fourth inning, just above an advertisement for Foxwoods Casino. Umpire Joe West consulted with the police and security about the sign because it was in fair territory. It was taken down and the fans were removed peacefully within minutes.
No arrests were made in the incident.
The Red Sox said in a statement: During the fourth inning of tonights game, four fans unfurled a banner over the left field wall in violation of the clubs policy prohibiting signs of any kind to be hung or affixed to the ballpark. The individuals involved were escorted out of Fenway Park.

(590 posts)3. Four day old story
This is a four day old story. For the record the folks claim to be anti-racist, but it's not clear who they are associated with, if anyone.

(135,823 posts)4. it should be a hundred and forty years old and it's a shitty way of getting their point across.

https://www.dailykos.com/stories/2017/9/15/1698803/-Turns-out-that-the-Antifa-group-claiming-they-protested-Red-Sox-game-are-actually-right-wingers
There has been some confusion with this diary and clearly
I was not clear enough.
1) A protest took place at Fenway Park during a baseball game.
2) A group calling itself Boston Antifa claimed they were behind the protest. Traditional media outlets reported it that way.
3) It turns out that a) Boston Antifa is really a bunch of right wing opportunists, and b) they had nothing to do with what was a anti-racism protest conducted by a small group of people unaffiliated with any Antifa group.
I hope that clarifies it. I stick to my opinion that while the protest had a good message, that message was slightly ambiguous in todays climate.

(5,042 posts)9. The group unfurling the banner was (supposedly) not right-wing
They denied any association with the group that online claimed they were "Boston Antifa" which was proven to be a couple of right-wing "pranksters" from the west coast.

UPDATE, 1 a.m., Sept. 14: The protest group member who spoke to CSNNE said Antifa Boston's claim of responsibility for hanging the banner at Fenway Park is "ridiculous."
"The five of us are in no way associated with Antifa nor did Antifa Boston have anything to do with the action," the group member wrote via text.
As proof, they provided an image of the banner when it was being unfurled ahead of the demonstration, as a test.
