Kelly is thinking, "Why the hell do we bother writing speeches for him when he just gets up there and wings it?"

Trump in the chair is thinking, "What should my next tweet be about? Maybe about how long these nobodies made me sit here waiting to speak. I better talk tough to show them who's boss."

I feel sorry for you, me and any rational thinking person on the planet since he is NOT rational OR thinking. Get the straitjacket out NOW! They should have put one on him while he was seated in front of the world's eyes. Maybe then our allies would believe our country has come back to its senses.

getting ulcers over his willful ignorance, bullying personality, and mental illness. "Tough shit" is how I feel about Kelly, et al. Let them fix it, get rid of him (resign), or off themselves, but they should not be allowed to quit.

At least for now. From what coverage I saw -- and no, I didn't watch it live and can't stomach watching recorded video -- Drumpf was speaking to them directly.

Honestly, I think the rest of the audience should have walked out the moment he started speaking. Respect is earned and he has done nothing to earn the respect of real world leaders.

He not be in the Trump administration? Because if all the people with any type of moral integrity step aside, resign etc...then who is left?

Gen Kelly was extremely reluctant to take this position, in fact had declined in the past. I think (and I am not the only one who has argued this) that for some (esp military) they believe truly in duty to their country and that reining in Trump is part of that duty. You can have the administration filled with Trump sycophants like Gorka, Bannon, Scaramucci (who are gone) or actually have a few ppl with brains cells. The ones with a moral compass are few, and hardly anyone is left to take their place or you can have Sarah Palin, Arpaio, Sheriff Clarke, Chris Christie.

The man who was the ethics guy who resigned ...who has been on Maddow's show saying watch for Trump to skip over the talented next in line person for his former position and go for the one who is less qualified but more likely to do what Trump wants...and then Trump did that. And next thing you know the ethics office says hey it's ok to have lobbyists pay for the administrations legal fees.

You can't want safe guards preventing Trump to do everything he wants and then complain about the people who are sticking around trying to just that.

Even if they are much too RW, guys like Kelly are no doubt patriots who love this country and recognize the existential threat dump poses. In the present situation, when we are basically living under an extremist RW coup, at least it can be hoped Kelly reins in dump's worst impulses, when and where he can.*

*by definition excluding the tweeting--no one apparently can exercise any restraint of that.

Edited to add: posted before seeing Darleen's post just below, which says substantially the same thing. I should read the entire thread first .

that Kelly took this post to try and keep Trump on a short leash? That was my first thought when I heard he had taken the post and I still believe it. Since he took over Trump has been a bit more subdued most of the time unless he can slip away and pull his usual BS. As far as I'm concerned, Kelly is one of the few true patriots in that stinking morass of an "administration."

Oh geez, don't tell me she's a dump bot. I've always enjoyed her work, barring the infomercials. Solitaire, no!!!

And Melania looks anesthetized. Prolly just extreme botoxing. Not trying to be catty--that's an extreme amount of whatever, and probably results from the depressing stress of being married to the most hated man on the planet.
