I'm totally freaked out right now. Can't reach anyone, no power. Not on vacation, they live there. Think good thoughts please.

(111,243 posts)When you do get through, they'll probably complain that you woke them up in the middle of the night.
At least I hope that's what happens. Good luck to you and your family.

(19,559 posts)I, too, am all to familiar with what it's like to have family in harms way and not be able to reach them. I know how you feel, and I know the stress you're enduring right now. I'm so deeply sorry you're going through this.
All I can offer is more often than not it's just due to infrastructure being down and you'll be in touch soon. I know that does little to ease your worries or stress, and I wish I could offer more. Sadly, no one can at this point. I wish you and yours the best possible outcomes, and I hope you keep us updated. I'm worried for you now.
We just found out that the cousins in Mexico City are ok. Frightened, but safe. My mom's family immigrated from Belarus in the 1920s. They couldn't immigrate to the United States because of immigration quotas and settled in Mexico City, where my mother was born. She and her parents immigrated to NY but her Aunt and cousins stayed in Mexico. So I have family there.
And my husband's cousin moved to St. Croix, mostly because he was a pothead beach bum.
No judgment. Just hope he's safe. He kinda doesn't have two nickels to rub together.
