At the gym where I work out, there are several TV sets in each room. One of them is almost always tuned into Fox News. Today, as I was warming up on the treadmill, I had the joy of seeing Tucker Carlson doing what he does best — stirring up shit. I couldn’t hear what he was saying, but plastered across the screen were the words, “The left is using hurricanes to push the narrative of climate change.” He was obviously trying to make this sound like a bad thing.
Really? Scientists have been warning us that climate change was going to result in hurricanes becoming more powerful and more destructive more frequently. So, when hurricanes actually start becoming more powerful and more destructive more frequently as predicted, this would be good evidence to validate their scientific theory. So, using the hurricanes to “push the narrative” of climate change is what sane, sensible people would do. That’s in contrast to right-wingers like him who argue purely on ideology with no evidence.
Carson’s line of attack is so stupid, all I can do is shake my head and vent here on Daily Kos. I have little patience for stupidity, especially when it’s used to persuade a credulous audience to behave destructively. And climate change denial is destructive. Like these hurricanes are demonstrating to anyone with the critical thinking skills to realize it.
