5. Yes and no.

I have encountered several people over the weekend who were genuinely perplexed as to what was being protested. Perplexed due to possessing white privilege and not paying attention to the news. I'm relieved to say that most of them eventually got it when I took the time to take them through the issue gently and thoroughly. Only one put up a hand (literately) to cut me off and refuse to listen. In that case, I do suspect the individual did know and pretended to be confused on the issue.

some of the sheep just go along, but then again, they've got to be idiots.

*no one* protests the flag or other patriotic symbols without a reason.
it may or may not be a good reason, but there's always a reason.
anyone who refuses to even wonder what that reason might be is abusing some notion of patriotism to silence others.
