Or do the asswipes have another trick up their collective sleeve?

(17,425 posts)After 9/30, they can't use reconciliation to pass, and therefore need 60 votes to pass it then. Until 9/30, they only need 50 votes and Pence tiebreaker.
It certainly appears dead though, but since people can change their minds, it is not over until it is over.
edit: spelling and further clarification.

(17,425 posts)It hurts. Too stressful. I'm glad it appears like the bill will fail, but jeez, going through this every few weeks is awful.

(52,196 posts)after 9/30, they can't use reconciliation until they pass a new budget, then they can try again.
once per year. all we get is a breather on aca repeal while they screw up the budget first.
when they're done with that, they can take another swipe at aca repeal, until 9/30/18.
and so on each year....
one can hope they have the wisdom to give up, but one counts on the wisdom of republicans at one's own peril....

(17,425 posts)They probably won't be able to pass anything meaningful if the ACA repeal fails, so they will just go to sleep for the rest of the fiscal year and then come back next year 2 days before the deadline with some new horrible shit on healthcare.

(52,196 posts)i rather suspect they would prefer to avoid more potentially embarrassing fails on aca repeal in an election year.
then they'll take it up again in 2019 if they still hold the house and senate.

As I understood it at the time that was their last chance to use reconciliation.

(52,196 posts)they can have up to 3 reconciliation bills per year, one each on spending, revenue, and debt ceiling.
this clearly has nothing to do with debt ceiling, but perhaps they did one as spending reconciliation and the other as revenue reconciliation?
i'm just guessing here.

(16,104 posts)This bill is worse than other rejected 'repeal and replace' tries.
Tomorrow, Republicans are going to see Trump and McConnell can't carry one of their loyal own - in Alabama!
Time for the rats to flee this sinking ship!

(22,031 posts)Republicans rarely like to vote on bills they know won't pass. Usually, if they don't have the votes locked down, they pull the bill to avoid any embarrassments.
On the other hand, maybe McConnell will hold the vote so that the base can see how each Senator voted.
As long as the damn bill doesn't become law, people have a chance.
