Trump doesn't give a damn about the flag & anthem except as symbols of himself. It's all about HIM.
He's a sociopathic narcissist, after all. Not inclined to care about anything outside himself. To him, the entire universe revolves around him. Nothing else is as REAL as he is.
And he's a sociopathic narcissist who first started talking about running for president 30 years ago.
One who acquired Mar-a-Lago because he wanted to call it the "Southern White House."
He's not just wrapping himself in the flag, he's confused himself with it.
So no explanations from the players that they aren't disrespecting the flag or the anthem -- or the military or the country -- will do.
Because Trump sees any sign of protest as disrespecting HIM. Especially now that he's demanded that show of respect.
He's fundamentally incapable of letting this go.
