Otherwise, it's just another THOUGHT AND PRAYERS, candlelight vigil event.
Show the real video.
Not just the sound of the gun shots.
Show the ACTUAL results of the gun shots.
That might at least wake up a few to what our lack of gun legislation yields.
Otherwise, it will be the same old rhetoric. Nothing new. No changes.
Just more death 💀, the next time .

(3,194 posts)NEVER Happen. In fact, NEVER EVER EVER. The media is too "sensitive" to do something so bold.
People might actually become awake were that to happen, so don't count on it.
Thoughts & Prayers is FAR FAR easier.

Without some reality, its just, like, a video game, or cinematic special effects in our minds...and we feel bad and sorrowful and promptly move on.

(38,187 posts)a lot of the people who are against gun control are dead inside. They refused to do anything after Sandy Hook. If they would not do the right thing after 5 and 6 year old kids were gunned down in school, nothing else is ever going to change their minds. Nothing is ever going to change. Seeing the photos or videos would not phase them.
I think a majority of Americans are so desensitized to violence and death that it wouldn't make a difference to most people to see the bodies. That is the sad part. There is a void where their emotions and compassion are supposed to be.

But, it will change a few and get a few fence sitters on this issue to move.
Much more than mere candlelight vigils do.
The battle needs to be taken to the tv networks and the FCC to fight fir this.
Fight for what the real definition of Obscenity and Graphic Material should be.

(38,187 posts)they do nothing to change course.
I rarely watch TV, but I overheard my aunt's TV this morning and Gayle King was asking what can we do to make hotels safer. Scanning, metal detectors, etc. I somehow was not surprised the talking heads were actively and vehemently ignoring the elephant in the room and instead trying to drum up support for more "security" that won't stop gun violence, but instead will just hassle everyone entering or leaving a hotel.
It will be an uphill battle to take it to the TV Networks. They are so insulated from regular everyday people and they are extremely rigid in sticking to the topics they are told to discuss. I wonder if there is a way to look up the use of the word, "pivot" by the major news networks before Trump. They have overused that word so much just since he has entered the White House. After his first speech to Congress, every single one of them used the word, "pivot," repeatedly. It was like all of them were reading the same script and it felt like propaganda. How could we go about getting them to break from the script they all seem to use? Talk to the network heads and find their price to let real journalism and the truth to come through? I wonder if that would work.

Also, bombard their web sites, twitter, face book, emails, phone lines..
Ask them to tell and show the real damage that assault rifles do to a human body.
