I have been the recipient of thoughts and prayers.

As I understand it, my name was on prayer lists of church's I have never attended. My family was contacted by many people to saying they were thinking and praying. It was good to know so many people cared. It was some comfort to know others were thinking about me and my family. HOWEVER, surgery, chemotherapy and radiation cured my cancer. Thoughts and prayers were nice but they did not fix anything or cure the problem.

Science, research and hard work are the reason I am alive, not thoughts and prayers.

A relative who was a devout Catholic with Stage 4 bone cancer tried to stay off painkillers, leaving her pain in God's hands. That lasted only a few days until she began crying from the agony. She gave in and took morphine, much to her chagrin, but it relieved the pain. "God" did not, nor did "God" save her.

Thoughts and prayers will only take you so far.

probably can be comforting to some people but it depends who is saying it and how they say it.

Congress saying it??? I don't think so they are not sincere it's just a phrase to them.
