Did he have housekeeping in his room in all that time?
Wouldn't a room full of guns and ammo tipped off the staff?
Perhaps he refused housekeeping, but that would be odd as well, right?
That's four nights and no service for a high roller?
Apologies if this has been covered already, I've not had a chance to watch the news.....

That's from a NYT report. Then again, it was a 1,700 sq. ft. high roller suite and a) they've probably seen it before and b) customers at that gambling level are never scrutinized personally unless there's money in it for the casino.

(4,178 posts)Was his car in the hotel lot? I haven't heard.

(10,201 posts)Housekeeping does not go through your luggage when they clean your room.

He probably had all the weapons packed in suitcases and the housekeepers would not be looking in those.

(39,171 posts)if the weapons were broken down and locked in a suitcase, house keeping would not know they were there.

(20,996 posts)...one conspiracy circulating on Two-Facedbook is that there was more than one shooter.

(13,386 posts)I had not even considered the possibility that more than shooter was responsible. I dont think its likely but fingerprints, other forensic evidence and any hotel security evidence would likely prove or disprove that theory.

*shaking head*
This was definitely premeditated.
This was not a "suddenly snapped" thing.
Just so upsetting, I guess I'm looking for answers where there are none.....

(36,751 posts)not because I had anything to hide, but because I was glad that the underpaid staff didn't have to clean another room (still tipped at the end of my stay as if they did).

(3,496 posts)Why did he wait until Sunday? From reports the crowds were as big the first two days.

(54,770 posts)until he had no more time to put it off before before the crowd left. I don't think there is any logic in something like this.

(5,897 posts)Even bigger headlines. Also, on a more practical level...I would think he probably did dry runs to get it right.

(2,849 posts)I used to travel quite a lot. I worked in the music business and there were many times that I would have all sorts of cases of equipment. Many times it was stacks of guitars that I would bring to my room for lack of any more secure place to store them during my stay. I've heard it said that all one needs is a clipboard and a stern look and you can get in just about anywhere. All this guy would probably need to do is have some sort of back story that he was there for some sort of convention or other, and these were his equipment samples and and I'm sure the hotel wouldn't think twice about it. As long as he didn't unpack all the guns and leaving them lying around for all those days, housekeeping could come and go and not really know what was in the cases.

(4,066 posts)Depending on what the cases looked like it wouldn't be any tip off or look odd to anyone at a resort hotel that has conventions all the time. Lots of people probably come in and out of there with tons of stuff for display at conventions. They would probably be renting suites to have customers up and do the hospitality thing.
I can easily see why he wouldn't have arisen any suspicion. Even a boat load of guns wouldn't be unusual at a Vegas convention hotel.

(3,194 posts)This is Las Vegas. They have gun shows every week. I'm sure there are guests who carry guns with them.
I'm sure the maids are not going to say anything, even if they had seen lots of suitcases.
