BOOKING.COM is advertising low rates at San Juan hotels !

Can you fucking believe it?

I've used this agency many times along with Expedia, Kayak and others..
I'm now officially finished with BOOKING.com.

No, I won't supply a link. I'd have to click on an ad to do it.

ON EDIT:

Well the first three replies made me think maybe I blew it on this one..
I just figured Booking was trying to cash in or something..

Thanks for questioning my.... interpretation, opinion, sanity?

Aside from that, there are plenty of non-tourist reasons that people will need to be traveling there.

People will need to be coming in from out of town to provide all kinds of business services: contracting, engineering, insurance, etc. All of those people will need a place to stay.

5. Also agree. I can't get away from work now, but going to PR and spending money

is a very good kind of aid. Charity's all well and good, but jobs-producing and business-saving spending is better.

10. Generating income, exploiting tragedy... I guess it's all in how we frame our own narratives.

2. What's the problem?

This could be helpful for those who want to travel to help. Or to see first hand what's going on. Or for whatever. As long as they know the risks, I don't see the problem. It's not a war zone. There are no official travel restrictions that I know of. If the hotels can open and keep people employed and keep money flowing, that seems like a good thing.

I haven't seen the ads. If they're advertising along the lines of see it now before it falls into the ocean, then that's awful. But if it's just you search and they provide options, why not?

3. That's bad?

If the hotel is open a lot of people headed there to help in recovery efforts would probably love to be sure they had accommodations prearranged before they go, and I'm sure all the owners and employees at the hotel would love paying customers to be there.

Maybe you didn't blow it.

Free market citizens have a helluva time realizing the difference between exploitation and assistance, and we often think the two cannot be contained within the same package.

The Marshall Plan illustrates that both can be achieved with the same pen stroke.

We stayed at a small pension, Andalucia Guest House, on McCleary just down the street from KASALTA a dynamite "locals" restaurant and bakery- near Ocean Park, about a 10 minute drive from Old San Juan. Also went to Fajardo and El Yunque national forest.

Wonderful time..
