Fox Newss Martha MacCallum asked Rep. Steve Scalise in an interview to be aired later Tuesday if his experience and the deadly mass shooting in Las Vegas on Sunday night have changed his views about the Constitutions Second Amendment. I think its fortified it, Scalise said.
Because first of all youve got to recognize that when theres a tragedy like this, the first thing we should be thinking about is praying for the people who were injured and doing whatever we can to help them, to help law enforcement. We shouldnt first be thinking of promoting our political agenda, Scalise said.

(13,776 posts)What pisses me off even more is his opposition to the Affordable Health Care Act (which is a fact) or universal health care (which I feel safe in assuming).
If the ACA were repealed, most Americans/innocent bystanders who got shot because a crazy person got unfettered access to a gun would lose everything through no fault of their own if they had the kind of medical bills he piled up. Easy for him to vote against health care for everyone as long as he's got his.

(2,768 posts)How the hell does being shot and having 59 people killed and 500+ injured fortify a position AGAINST gun control?
His solution to Vegas is to first toss out some thoughts and prayers (nothing). Then do everything we can to help the police. How exactly do we do that dude? The time to do that would have been BEFORE by that buy not letting every Tom, Dick and Harry have assault weapons. I guess what you really meant was that we should give the police an even heavier grade of weapons to keep ahead of the general public. All of this because you don't want to give up that sweet sweet NRA money
Between this and O'suckface's "price of freedom". I guess we're all supposed to be perfectly happy with the everyday potential of being a part of the next mass slaughter. Let's protect the rights of gun crazies and the gun companies right to make money? Let's be perfectly real about guns in this country. It's not people wanting to protect their families buying the type of weapons we want regulated. It's people who revel in this shit. It's the kind of people who secretly WANT to mow people down by the truckload.

(11,256 posts)If being shot by a long range weapon - that should never be in the hands of anyone outside of law enforcement - doesnt cause him to waver in his fealty to the NRA, Im not sure anything will. What a complete loser.

He was instructed to deflect these questions as "politicizing" an issue.
The event happened. It cannot be politicized. It is in the past.
But policy IS political. And that's the issue. Not the shootings, but the policy.
Why are reporters so one-dimensional and incurious?
